Good overview of Champagne.

I am studying sparkling wine for my WSET Diploma, this book has a great description of the making of champagne. The author makes it abundantly clear that he is the first American to be a part owner in a Champagne House. The worst part of the book is the repetitious stating of his house's name. I almost felt I was reading a marketing book for his wine. But that being said, he is well informed and even gives statistics on sales, plantings, etc. He also explains the Cru areas. I learned a great deal from the book. I also went on line to find out something about his Champagne. Never found anything--did the company fold or what. If you seek good strong background on Champagne this is a book for you. Just remember he is pushing his product throughout. Shipping was fast and the book was well packaged.

Moving beyond a traditional study of Polish dramatic literature, Halina Filipowicz turns to the plays themselves and to archival materials, ranging from parliamentary speeches to polemical pamphlets and verse broadsides, to explore the cultural phenomenon of transgressive patriotism and its implications for society in the twenty-first century. Three major themes unite this exploration: controversies over “true” and “false” patriotism; disputes over class and gender boundaries; and imaginative attempts to expand the meaning of “us” to take in “not-us,” and perhaps even to undo the whole opposition between “us” and “them.”

In addition to recovering lost or forgotten materials, the author builds an innovative conceptual and methodological framework to make sense of those materials and to challenge many long-standing assumptions about Polish cultural and intellectual history. Taking Liberties contributes to the debate over the meaning and practice of patriotism.

Although it's only 2 chapters the info is Excellent and more than worth the $3.99 Kindle price. About the Author

Hiroshi Oda is the Sir Ernest Satow Professor of Japanese Law at the University of London (University College), a professor of the College d'Europe (Brugge), and consultant to Herbert Smith, solicitors. He is a graduate of the Law Faculty of the University of Tokyo, held a chair of Soviet Law there and was granted a LL.D before moving to London. He has held various visiting positions including visiting professorship at Cornell Law School (US). He is also a qualified attorney in Japan and practices Japanese and Russian law in London and Tokyo.
