A Must Read.

This book was required reading as I went through the process of converting to Judaism but I would recommend this book to anyone. The story of the Jews is inspiring and moving and this book captures the spirit of this amazing people so well, delivering the facts without too much sentimentality. From the complexities of the creation of the State of Israel to the constant expulsion from country after country this book is surprisingly throrough and yet easily accessible. I defy anyone not to feel inspired after reading it.

Very helpful

I went online to view the outline of the nystce biology exam and was very overwhelmed on how much material was outlined. There was a lot of information that I had learned and forgotten or just hadn't learned at all. This flashcard system covers most of the material listed on the nystce guideline in an easy manner. Buying this flashcard system saved me time by presenting me with the material in the nystce guideline instead of me having to sift through all of my notes to try and find the answers to these questions.

You will definitely need these cards to pass!

I did amazing on the Biology CST exam and I truly have these cards to thank. There were several questions on fungus, which I would have never studied if it wasn't for these cards. The only thing I would suggest is study the body parts on your own, because the cards do not go into detail about disorders or medications which was asked on the exam. However, otherwise the cards are extremely useful. They are very wordy, but I rewrote the cards into simpler ones and I did amazing on the exam! Definitely buy them!

Anyone who’s every studied biology knows that it requires an enormous amount of memorization in order to do well on tests. So do yourself a favor, and get these flashcards to help you get through studying for this exam. They are totally worth it! Getting prepared to take this exam is daunting, but using these flashcards will help you to memorize all the key concepts, terms and materials. When you first see them, you’ll be impressed at how many cards there are in the system. And they are nicely made too – quite sturdy and easily portable. These flashcards are also well written. There’s a lot of information on them but what’s really great is that it’s just enough so that you can memorize quickly. It’s like having a question and answer session at your fingertips.

Memorization is key to passing this exam and there’s no better way to prepare than with these flashcards. They really do the job! They cover all the materials you’ll need to be familiar with and you can use them anytime, anywhere which is really handy. There’s also some really great test taking strategies included which will totally help you do well on the exam. Overall, these flashcards are the best way to study if you want to be efficient and get a great mark in the end. I’d highly recommend them!

Always simple, straightforwardly put, it is a credit to Lewington that she approaches her ever-human topics with honesty and transparency, without becoming overwrought in the bluntness of just telling us what we could have discovered. The poems retain that element of discovery that transparency often dilutes. We discover a poet's heart, yearning, exploring what it means to be trampled on and in potentially purposeless pain.
Just a Sign of the Times bends and becomes a voice that could have echoed from the head of anyone who reads it. It is a lost heart, looking for a heart. With this, Lewington makes a solid step into poetry.

complex and personal

Star counts are personal, so, as always, do not let my star count override your judgement of content. More on the stars, counting, and my rating challenges later. Let’s get to the interesting stuff: Lewington’s work.

Some of the poems are long, almost happenings. Turn to Ketchup: None for an example of this. For a weird commentary on drugs, turn to High, where the first person speaker is the drug.

For a complex and personal poem, turn to The Subject Will Be, which includes this: “Hear him sing /Hear her say I love you /Hear the soft moans and groans /Of something pure /Hear the silence and tear it down /This won’t end....”

For personal disaster, turn to Screwed. It’s impossible to capture this long poem in a quick quote. For another tough situation, turn to Confessional, where we find this: “And although she viewed this man, her husband /Through bruised eyes /Hearing his confession /Through boxed ears /She knew she loved him...”

If you’re scrolling for the tiny carps, they are few. Possibly some typos. The formatting could imho be much nicer, and the work clearly deserves top-notch presentation. Enough, already; back to the poems.

Social commentary abounds here, as in Smart Girl. Relationships are probed in Tattoo and Family, and again in Photos.

A personal favourite here is Love, which begins thus: “Love is the one that won’t leave....”

Give all the above, how do I decide on four stars? My personal guidelines, when doing an ‘official’ KBR review, are as follows: five stars means, roughly equal to best in genre. Rarely given. Four stars means, extremely good. Three stars means, definitely recommendable. I am a tough reviewer, and I try to be consistent. This is an early work of an extremely promising writer. If you find as many satisfying pieces as I did, you will agree that four stars is clearly justified. Definitely recommended.

Souls that are damaged have to continue in life

BOOK REVIEW: Just a Sign of the Times, by Katie Lewington

From the first poem “it is night I was in bed you roused me from my sleep” it felt like she had been abused by someone close to her as she discusses how that made her feel and react and how those occurrences will last throughout her life.

Moving on, the next poem which illustrates the desperation she felt almost taking the form of suicide as her depression grows – yet, do parts of her condone the coupling? The author moves on as a damaged person – gaining weight from the food she uses to plug up the hole, having gender issues, flirting with drugs, interested in older men and the promiscuous ways of youth from her generation, living in confusion as she moves along life’s paths.

Poem after poem taking you on a journey, not always hers as she delves into the life of the homeless in her poem called "Empathy" speaking to “Mr. Frozen Man” living on the streets in the cold. Eventually she moves forward towards relationships that may or may not be good for her.

She takes a journey on life’s hardships of losing a job in "Screwed" to include the adjustments and the mental strain, leading to death on the railroad tracks. This book touches on many things that make this life miserable, not worth living but every now and then she springs back from the melancholy thoughts and comes alive with hope and motivation to keep living and enjoy.

Sometimes the language is language of today, a little edgy, the author does not conform to rhyme sometimes ranting but you get the gist of the conversations, you feel the thoughts circling in the mind. This book touches on the dark thoughts of a trouble life, analyzes that darker side even questions just what is the ‘norm’ in comparison.

An interesting read as it jerks your head in a different direction as seen through the eyes of a damaged person and it would seem there are many damaged, wounded people in the world.

Stirred Many Emotions Within Me

Damn I loved this book! I've always loved poetry and this book hit a home run for me! The poems are just fabulous. The first poem of the book is incredibly deep, about romance, love and heartbreak. It was really touching. And then there are other poems which made me think, laugh, reflect and really look into life deeper. This book, to me, is dancing with emotion.
There is this humorous and thought-provoking poem about drugs. Basically, a drug is a narrator of the poem, where in the poem, the drug says, "Will you legalize me please?" I laughed. But it wasn't only funny. It also poetically explained why drugs should be legalized. It was thought provoking. Poetry always aims to stir thought in someone, and that is what this book had done to me.
Another poem is called "The subject will be'. This poem was marvelous. It constantly convinced me to just 'say something', especially because I'm going to die and I won't love forever. It told me to embrace life and see beauty in all of its forms. This is a true poet at work! I was deeply moved by this poem. I'm going to read it again whenever I find myself refraining from life, and will begin to embrace it as the author wants me to.
The last poem I want to talk about is called 'Screwed', and is about someone who gets continuously rejected at job interviews. Not only that, but also getting fired and being broke. It also speaks of the stresses associated with not having much money and wealth. It was a very down-to-earth poem, and can speak to many people.
Overall, I feel this book is a zeitgeist. It speaks about a lot of the aspects of life with regards to our current times. It made me laugh, smile, reflect and thing, and I couldn't ask for more. The poems are beautifully written, and I literally couldn't put the book down. This is definitely a must read for all poetry lovers, and for any reader looking for something interesting and thought-provoking.

Not that I am a marketing major but....

..... This textbook was easy to read and had some interesting snippets into marketing. I would never have read this if it wasn't needed for a class, but this textbook was honestly one of the best ones I have had to read in my 4 years of school. It is basic but thorough, and to the point but understandable. It does not have the lengthy drawn out chapters that seem to repeat over and over again chapter after chapter, like so make textbooks do. If you need this text for a class consider yourself lucky it is this one and not another one!

I decide to rent this book since money is tight. It was overall great, I really enjoyed the layout of it. It is different from traditional books, however it was easier for me to understand the concepts. Renting process was easy and at a good price. In the end I would actually purchase the book to review it from time to time.

He holds a Doctor of Engineering degree from Texas A&M University, 1981. Dr. Elkarmi is a registered "Expert" engineer with the Jordan Engineers Association, a Senior Member of IEEE, and a Chartered Engineer with IEE. Moreover, he is a member of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) and holds a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) title. Dr. Elkarmi, in addition to teaching full-time, conducts training in Jordan and abroad in strategic planning and business planning, project evaluation, performance improvement, start-up businesses, professional management consulting, electrical system development, tariff studies and investment planning, load research, energy and demand forecasting, demand side management, energy efficiency, energy conservation, environmental impact assessment, process optimization, and new product development. He also provides consultation in business development, feasibility studies, organizational re-engineering, business turnaround, project appraisal, and investment assessment. Dr.Elkarmi served as director for MMIS Management Consultants; General Manager of Arab Development for Food Industries - Free Zone - Zarka; Managing Director, Quality Consultancy Company (QCC); Director, Industry Sector and Mineral Resources at the Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST); Director, Energy Sector Technologies at the Higher Council for Science and Technology; Acting General Manager (Part-time) for Palestine Industrial Investment Company (PIIC) in Nablus - Palestine; and Director of Planning at the Jordan Electricity Authority. Dr. Elkarmi worked as the Director of "IRADA," which is a project sponsored by the Ministry of Planning for assisting entrepreneurs in establishing their businesses, including the preparation of feasibility studies, business plans, request for financing, and registration procedures.

Nazih M. Abu-Shikhah is an Assistant Professor and currently is the Head of the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering at Amman University/Faculty of Engineering, freelance consultant, time series analyst, energy/electricity expert, and trainer. Great Book, But..........

This is a great book; it goes in great detail about security in all aspects of the computer industry. However it lacks one critical aspect, how do I do that? Like all network and computer professionals, I do not know everything, so when you tell me I should do something a certain way I'd hope that you will also tell me how to do it. With this book I found myself saying, maybe they will tell me what to do later, over and over, never happens. If you want to buy a book that's a reference manual, this is the one to get. If you are looking for a "how to" as well as a "what to look for" book, consider looking elsewhere.

Picked it up for Sec+ now, GSEC later

This was a decent book on security. I actually picked this book up to provide additional material for the Security+ (which was very easy by the way) and to provide something to help me self study for GSEC in the coming months. I found this book to be very useful for both cert and non cert study. It can be a little dry at times but that is to be expected.

Extremely well structured book. A reference anyone should have indeed if you are a honnete homme with some interest in your times. Of course, professionals and want-to-be will find good data and explanation. The technological aspects could start earlier in the book. But frankly this is not easy to make such a book and the outcome is a masterpiece.
