About the Author
Tomas Co is a professor of chemical engineering at Michigan Technological University. After completing his PhD in chemical engineering at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst he was a postdoctoral researcher at Lehigh University, a visiting researcher at Honeywell Corp., and a visiting professor at Korea University. He has been teaching applied mathematics to graduate and advanced undergraduate students at Michigan Tech for more than twenty years. His research areas include advanced process control including plant-wide control, nonlinear control and fuzzy logic. His journal publications span broad areas in such journals as IEEE Transactions in Automatic Control, Automatica, the AIChE Journal, Computers in Chemical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering Progress. He is a regular nominee for the Distinguished Teaching Awards at Michigan Tech and is a member of the Michigan Technological University Academy of Teaching Excellence.

How Fast Two Lives can Change in 5 1/2 Hours

A few housekeeping details. I was gifted with the ARC (Advance Readers Copy) of the book for an honest review. Also, this is the 6th installment of the serial "Life before Damaged" volumes 1-5 are available here and I highly recommend that you read them first. That being said, a lot happens in a very few days.

The author again gives us an intriguing glimpse into the high rolling lives of the Granz and Ferro families from Gina's perspective. They don't have to play by the usual rules, Money has Power. I COULD NOT put it down. Finished it in one sitting. Where will this new relationship between Pete and Gina go in the next 9 months 4 days and 2 hours ?

So Life Before Damage Vol. 6 is a continuation of a series of books that already have been published (vol 1-5 are available). And if unfamiliar with H.M. Ward's work, what I will say it is a Ferro family series. And the LBD series is a prequel to Damage 1 & 2 and can be read separately as a standalone series but I HIGHLY recommend you read Damage 1 & 2. As for LBD 6, this volume left me speechless. It was flippin' brilliant in every sense of the word!! H.M. Ward left us in such a tizzy after LBD 5 and what can I say, she has done it again! This installment was EPIC. LBD 6 left me screaming, laughing (I did a LOT of this especially with Gina's bbf), crying and wanting for more. Ms. Ward has a way of giving all her characters life. Some characters I wanted to high-five, some I wanted to ball sack punch, and some I want to just hug. As much as we all want Pete Ferro and see his journey unfold. This is very much a Gina Granz story and I love every minute of it! It is a personal journey of growth and ultimately Pete and Gina's love story for those who are really afraid to pick up the Life Before Damaged series after reading the Damaged series. It's REALLY good, you are missing out on seeing the full picture of Peter!

LOVED IT

One More Kiss by Susan Ward was fantastic! I did take notice that it was book 2 in the series so set out to read book 1 and glad I did. Book 1, One Last Kiss, starts the journey of Jack and Linda initially meeting so I highly recommend you start there.
This book was a little out of the norm for me as it takes place in 1980-81. Jack is a famous rock star who happened to play Woodstock and had a run of bad luck in his life of late. He's lost his wife and his son and is struggling to keep hold of his daughter. Linda stumbled across Jack in book 1, drunk on the beach. Since then they have been inseparable unless Jack is on tour.
Linda is known in the music world as a groupie, but had her reasons for why. She was on the search for her musician father but her meeting with him didn't go the way she'd have liked. Since then Linda and Jack have gotten much closer. Book 2 takes place about 8 months after their first meeting.
I'm unsure of the exact age difference between Jack and Linda, my guess would be anywhere from 15-25 years, but you'd never know that there was one. Even after losing his wife, Jack is still able to love Linda as if she was his first love. He is so caring and gentle with her. Nothing fatherly but knows she's still young, has finished her degree and wants to make a place for herself in the world. Jack wants nothing more than to provide for her in order to have her by his side at all times. He tries so hard throughout this story to get Linda to open up more and go public with their relationship but she holds back.
Getting the offer of a lifetime, not only career wise but also a continuation of her schooling, Linda keeps a secret from Jack. She leads Jack to believe that she would be going on the last leg of his tour with him but she has other plans in mind. Letting Jack know those plans was tearing her up. It was frustrating to me as well! I really like Linda but since I really love Jack, I wanted to ring her neck, too.
By the halfway point in this story, I was praying things were going to wrap up. I found myself in love with Jack by the end and was not ready for the final pages just knowing that their issues were not going to have a conclusion this time around. I can totally relate to how Linda was feeling, given her age she wants to set out in the world to try to support herself but still love Jack just the same.
I really hope the next book is the last in this series or else just that Linda at least gives into her heart and Jack. I love falling in love more and more, book after book with characters. Jack is definitely one of my new favorite guys. Ms. Ward knows how to put love and life into her stories and it give her characters a real feel.
Jack and Linda get a 5 star rating from me for all their love and craziness.
Be sure to check out The Girl on the Half Shell, it's about Jack's daughter as an adult. I haven't read it yet but fully plan on rectify that soon. It will have multiple books as well.

Beautifully Written

The story of Jack and Linda.

This story is beautifully written and flows so well!

Jack is a singer, and described with golden curls, vivid blue eyes, and a tan (and at home at the beach).

Linda has just graduated college when the story begins, and she is desperately poor.

The chemistry between the couple sizzles, and I was never once lost due to lack of reading the first book.

Some of Linda's actions made me want to grab and shake her! She understands she isn't the same person as she was a few years prior, yet she can't seem to believe it.

I wanted to push her out of the way and tell Jack I'd gladly take what he was offering!

The author sets up nicely for the third book in the series, and I can't wait to see how it will all end!

Need more Jack and Linda

This is a great book that gives us more insight into Jack and Linda's world. I truly enjoyed reading how their relationship has progressed in the time that has passed from One Last Kiss.

Although not an ideal situation, and both still have their own issues they need to sort through, the love they express is real and heartwarming. And some hot scenes that make you squirm.

The more I read about Linda, the more I like her as a character and can relate to her. I love being inside her mind. Her internal battles are something I understand yet want her to overcome.

This read, in true Susan form, allows you to dig deeper than the typical romance novel and read between the lines. I am excited to see how their story continues and find myself rooting for Jack and Linda.

It helps me deal with the narc in my life!

I was initially going to rate this as a 4, because of the aforementioned reasons from other reviewers (some of the text boxes and charts don't function well, and you have to keep pressing an arrow to get the last one or two words. Either that or just guess from the context). I also thought that $10 for a 72 page kindle book was a bit much, BUT because I've gained SO much from Mr.Grannon's YouTube videos through the SpartanLifeCoach channel and his products that it's worth it for me (the value of his videos and products FAR surpasses the costs, because he gives you so much stuff and it's high quality - and by quality, I mean substance. Most people whose products I actually want are so expensive I just don't have the funds). With that said, when I put my mouse over the stars, the words said "4 stars = I like it" and "5 stars = I love it." If it's about my personal opinion, I'm gonna be honest. I love it, and here's why:

1) it gave me new information. I didn't know that stuff about oxytocin and how it can actually be a detriment in some ways
2) it gave me tips on how to deal with my (soon-to-be) ex-husband who I share a child with
3) it also helped me see some of the psychology behind narcs, because I could NEVER understand why my narc husband could be so cruel or so entitled. I'd always had good romantic relationships with people in my past where there was mutual trust and respect, so for the longest time, I couldn't understand why I felt so badly in that one
4) the authors also give you a link for people who "need help defining the abusive pattern and possible co-morbid personality disorders" so that they can reach out to and contact the authors. This was the most valuable part of the book for me. Obviously, they're human beings who have lives and businesses to run, so I wouldn't latch onto them and take too much of their time, but it's nice to get an opinion from two people who have been dealing with this niche topic.

A big thanks to both Ms.Loric and Mr.Grannon for helping me shed more light to this area of my life and giving me sound, concrete advice!

UPDATE: I got a message from Ms.Loric. Apparently they have changed the format so that you can see the charts and text boxes clearly now (I personally can't check it on my kindle - I assume it's because once you buy the book, it doesn't get updated or anything).

A first class book! An absolute must-read.

The book gives you all the tools to hold the mirror up to the narcissist without having to defile one's own soul. It is a very classy, high level approach to revenge. It is the ultimate vindication. Its message absolutely sublime! The premise of the book is rooted in ancient wisdom and traditions that teach us how to overcome adversity through strength over self versus power over others; a truth that has eluded many. It is so effortless to achieve dominion over oneself. All it takes is self-control, the ability to withhold, and that you resist the urge to react. It is so easy to let silence fill the air; silence as the ultimate weapon of choice. Less is more. The more enigmatic and mysterious you are, the less your enemy has to glom onto.

This guide to truth, honor and wisdom gives you step for step the confidence building tools you need to be mentally, emotionally and physically prepared to counter the narcissist in a non-confrontational, non-oppositional, constructive manner. This must-read page-turner, with nuggets of truth and gems of wisdom on every page, gives you a path to healing the injury to your damaged soul, the very essence of your being. The intention and purpose of the book is to provide narcissism survivors with the proper skills and strategies to restore their severely impaired self-esteem, dignity and self-worth. It is the ultimate path to self-redemption.

We owe a debt of gratitude to both authors. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the good works that you do. Thank you Ms. Loric and Mr. Grannon for writing this wonderful book!

Responsible Respect

If you want to experience responsible respect for that unique blend of fury and despair the narcissist in your life inspires, read HOW TO TAKE REVENGE ON A NARCISSIST. No other book on this subject gets to the heart of the matter as quickly and effectively as Loric and Grannon do here. And if the title should give you pause, remember this: narcissists enjoy your misery, which means your fast recovery would likely be one of the worst things you could ever do to them. That core understanding having been "baked into the cake" by the compassionate--and funny!--authors makes this one post-breakup treat you can binge on without remorse.

Ramseur, the youngest of the three, eagerly embraced a Confederate identity, highlighting generational differences in the equation of loyalty. Early combined elements of Lee's and Ramseur's reactions—a Unionist who grudgingly accepted Virginia's departure from the United States but later came to personify defiant Confederate nationalism.

The paths of these men toward Confederate loyalty help delineate important contours of American history. Gallagher shows that Americans juggled multiple, often conflicting, loyalties and that white southern identity was preoccupied with racial control transcending politics and class. Indeed, understanding these men's perspectives makes it difficult to argue that the Confederacy should not be deemed a nation. Perhaps most important, their experiences help us understand why Confederates waged a prodigiously bloody war and the manner in which they dealt with defeat.

Outstanding!

Anything written by Gary Gallagher commands attention from serious students of the conflict, but this particular study (presented initially as a paper) is especially welcome. In exploring the Confederate loyalties of three distinctly different personalities and intellects, Gallagher gives us a deeper understanding of the commitments each of these leaders brought to the cause. Executed with the author's signature erudition, the book is, I believe, a critically important addition to our understanding of what it meant to be Confederate.
